Shiki Toyama is a second-year student at UC Santa Barbara majoring in Psychological and Brain Sciences with a deep interest in the intersection of consumer behavior, strategy, and marketing. Drawing from her academic foundation in psychology, Shiki is passionate about understanding the behavioral and emotional drivers behind consumer decisions. She is particularly fascinated by how cultural and personal values shape purchasing behavior, and how companies can use these insights to create research-driven strategies for sustainable growth. Shiki aspires to pursue a career in strategy consulting or consumer insights, where she can help brands connect more meaningfully with their audiences by tapping into the psychology of what drives human decision-making.
Outside the classroom, Shiki has trained in classical ballet since the age of 3, drawing inspiration from emotional storytelling and performance. She loves spending time with friends, hosting dinners and sharing thoughtful conversation over good food. As a film lover, her favorite film is Cinema Paradiso, an Italian movie touching on themes of nostalgia and the power of human connection. Akpsi has been a significant source of inspiration and genuine friendship for Shiki. The fraternity’s emphasis on brotherhood fosters an environment where members build authentic, supportive relationships while upholding high standards of integrity and professionalism.
